Hi. My name is Zina Gleason.
I ride because I believe in freedom of choice. Gay and
Lesbian rights are being affected daily by politics, religion,
and money. Why any of these sectors have an opinion regarding
how people live their lives is beyond me. I ride to show my support
for people to love and marry. After all, I could have sworn we
had bigger battles to fight like, why we are in a war, why people
hate us so much, cancer, gangs, destruction of our youth,
human apathy, disrespect of our environment, low self esteem,
personal intolerability, and being kind to others, just to name
a few.
Fighting against people who are doing nothing wrong seems
like yet another distraction from what is actually happening
in this world…Destruction of character and integrity.
I ride because HIV/AIDS affects everyone, not just the gay and
lesbian population. HIV and AIDS are leaking out of our jails
and prisons and out of our children and parents using intravenous
drugs. People are not paying enough attention to this fact. It
is everywhere. And, we need a cure. Personally, I think the cure
is starting with our children and teaching them how to protect
themselves against contraction of HIV/AIDS. Raising money for
this cause will enable us to fund programs in jails, prisons,
and schools to educate and protect people. Raising money for
this cause will hopefully get us closer to a cure.
I don’t know what this money is actually going to be used
for… but I am of the belief that participating in something
leaves me with less time to criticize it.
